First Aid in the Workplace

First Aid for Families

One of the most valuable investments you can make is in learning the skills to administer first aid to a member of your family.

Of course, nobody wants or expects to need to use those life-saving skills, and we certainly hope you never have to, but be assured that completing a comprehensive, good quality, hands-on first aid course, tailored to your needs, will leave you totally confident that should an emergency occur, you know exactly what to do.

Our standard three hour First Aid for Families course covers the following topics (and a coffee break!):

  • Introduction to first aid
  • Unconscious casualty (recovery position, adult/child/infant)
  • CPR (adult, child, infant)
  • Choking (adult, child, infant)
  • Burns
  • Meningitis
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Anaphylactic shock

We can tailor the course to include additional time and alternative subjects according to your requirements.

For expectant parents and anyone else who might find it difficult to access a course elsewhere, we also offer private courses, so that you can learn and practise in the comfort of your own home.

Paediatric First Aid for Childcare Professionals

At Colchester First Aid we have a particular passion for teaching paediatric first aid and offer a fully comprehensive paediatric course for professionals which meets OFSTED’s requirements for early years settings and is Essex County Council, Early Years and Childcare approved.

To meet these requirements the teaching time is a minimum of twelve hours, but can be extended to allow additional time for consolidation of practical skills if you wish and can be run over two full days or in shorter sessions to fit around work requirements.

We can offer our courses at your place of work or at an alternative training venue depending on your requirements.  We offer a substantial discount for group bookings for on-site training.

Our course includes all topics required by OFSTED and Essex County Council.
